About Us
The Silicon Valley Conservation Council has come to fruition at an exciting time in the history of Silicon Valley.
The Council represents a landmark collaboration of commerce and conservation, based on a shared set of values and goals, and a mutual objective of environmental responsibility and economic prosperity, for today, and the future.
For the Council, collaboration is far more than a goal - it is who we are.
The logical question that follows is, "Just what do you do?" Some would say land conservation, others smart growth and livable communities. Both would be right. However, in achieving each our fundamental business is building relationships; relationships based on trust, mutual benefit, and shared values.
Central to the success of the Council is the fostering of these relationships among different stakeholders in and beyond Silicon Valley, as well as adapting to the changing needs of the community as the landscape continues to evolve.
Our conservation efforts seek to preserve open space and Silicon Valley's unparalled quality of life. We act on the premise that individuals with good information make good decisions, and therefore promote smart conservation that begins with science and ends with land use.
Our commerce efforts focus on smart growth and the interrelated goals of the business environment; work force quality and availability, operating costs, smart growth/conservation incentive programs, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with government officials. The predictability of planning and environmental analysis as well as a thorough but expedited review process will be crucial factors in helping developers commit to investing in smart growth.
In the true spirit of Silicon Valley innovation and entrepreneurship, the Council is embarking on an unprecedented program that will have historic impact on how we live, how we sustain our quality of life, and how we prosper throughout the Silicon Valley region far into the generations to come.
The shared goal of creating vibrant, livable communities is the outcome - in essence, a "nice place to live", work and play where all can dream of a better tomorrow.
To this noble end we commit our collective efforts.
We invite you to join us.
