Conservation - The Valley of Heart's Delight
Before it earned the name Silicon Valley, it was the Valley of Heart's Delight. Orchards dazzled the eyes as a sea of blossoms in the spring and filled the air with sweet fragrances during harvest season.
Today those who call Silicon Valley home still delight in the splendor of its natural treasures. From the snow dusted Mt. Hamilton range, to the pristine southern San Francisco Bay wetlands, to the sun dappled rolling oak woodlands and verdant valley which even today hosts bucolic ranches, farms and orchards, this is where we live, work and play - this is our home.
The Silicon Valley Conservation Council seeks to preserve those special natural places that have come to characterize Silicon Valley and are integral to our quality of life.
By developing the land with care, natural resources can be enhanced and development pressure on more sensitive resources can be reduced.
The environment is a long-term strategic investment - in ourselves.
